13 JUNE 2014- BALIK PULAU : The Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail was in town recently. His presence was not only a source of excitement for Balik Pulau folk but his participation in a cycle-a-thon brought cheers to 150 cyclists who took part in the "Program Kayuhan Royal Pearl Balik Pulau".
A great sportsman, the royal led a team of 40 cyclists from Perlis to the event which was jointly organised by Team Tayar Golek (TTG) and Geng Tolak Basikal (GTB). GTB vice-president Rozhan Che Din said members of the two teams were grateful that Tuanku Syed Faizuddin took part in the event.
"We are grateful to the Raja Muda of Perlis for gracing our event. This is the first time he has joined us and we are happy that he had taken the time to do this," said Rozhan. He said the club, which has 300 members, only had a handful of them when it started in 2010. He said the members of the two clubs were also happy that Tuanku Syed Faizuddin joined them in the durian eating session after the gruelling bike ride. Tuanku Syed Faizuddin urged the public to take up cycling as it was good for the health and helps to keep the environment clean of smoke emission.
